Group therapy offers kids, teens and adults an evidence-based way to gain new skills and information. Groups are a powerful and effective method of developing social and communication skills/confidence, emotional expression and self-regulation, as well as fine-tuning inter-personal relationship skills, with the overall aim of feeling happier in educational/work and home settings. Participating in a group can offer unique, dynamic and creative ways of developing skills, and can be a safe space to try out new ways of doing things. Groups can often help people to feel less isolated. Group participants provide valuable feedback and support to each other in a safe, encouraging environment.
Group Therapy at Crisalida
Crisalida groups are run by an experienced team of therapists. Group numbers vary according to the particular group, but are usually six to ten participants. Sometimes small groups work with two to four children are also run. Most groups are run by two therapists working together, offering participants an enhanced therapeutic experience. Group therapy is not for everyone, and we work carefully to ‘match’ our groups and ensure clients are ready for this experience. A pre-group assessment is conducted for new clients to discuss individual’s needs, goals and expectations. Groups are tailored around individual’s needs and goals.
Group therapy offers people a financially viable way to receive therapy services.
